About me and my design

I don’t follow trends too closely, but rather design to make life comfortable and represent the person who lives there. I like to get the practicalities of a space right first and then dress it, so not only does it function well and is easy to live with, but it shows your own personality and style too. I like to design with colour and texture, fabrics and wallpapers and I like to find different ways of doing things and statement pieces that become talking points. That’s my personal philosophy, but I can design to suit whoever you are and whatever you need.
I love to mix old and antique items with new purchases, and expensive items with cheaper things and also repurpose existing pieces if possible. I think it makes a space more interesting and characterful. But quality must always prevail.
So, I don’t have a particular design style. I suppose the best way to describe me is versatile, plucky, bubbly and a problem solver!
In our beautiful Australian climate, it’s important to connect our indoor environment with the outdoors. I like to find creative ways of combining indoor and outdoor spaces with plants, multipurpose furniture and consistent themes to bring the 2 spaces together. I’m a problem solver. I like to start a design consult by finding out what my Client’s problem is, because that’s why they want a change!
• Is there not enough storage, is the floor plan bitsy and doesn’t flow, is the colour scheme bringing you down, do you have a young family and need things that are practical but don’t know how to make that look good?
• Are you terrible at making decisions and get crippled with indecision for fear of making the wrong choice?
• Do you want to be trendy but need to incorporate that vintage tea set Grandma left you, or the beautiful handmade rug you brought back from India, or that painting your husband bought on a whim?
• Do you like nice things but you’re a bit of a messy person and need space for a thousand projects you have on the go at once?
• Is your furniture dated, worn out, hurting your back when you sit on it or there’s not enough room to seat everyone for Christmas?
• Are your kids taking over the house with their toys, video games and a thousand “art projects” from school?
• Or are you just wanting your space to look “better” but don’t even know what that means or how to achieve it?
